Measuring a child’s height and growth is one of the most effective means of monitoring his or her overall well-being. However, although easy in theory, in practice it is one of the least well performed parts of the clinical assessment.

This video shows: how centile charts work, using animated graphics the overall diagnostic evaluation of a short child, including the assessment of pubertal status correct measuring techniques needed for a full evaluation of the normality or otherwise of a child’s stature, body proportions and growth rate.

Assessment of growth and puberty is an aid to undergraduate training and useful for all personnel involved in the measurement of children and the evaluation of their health, both in hospitals and in the community.
