4th Quantum Optics and Nanophotonics Winter School

4th Quantum Optics and Nanophotonics Winter School

Description

27 - 28 January 2026 - The Wave, University of Sheffield, UK

This 2-day Winter School is organised by the Quantum Physics and Technology Group at the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences and Sheffield Quantum Centre (SQC) at the University of Sheffield.

The Winter School will focus on generation, control and detection of quantum light; novel materials for (quantum) nanophotonics; strong light-matter interaction; spins and spin-photon interface in semiconductor quantum dots and solid state defects and other related topics.

The school will consist of lectures by leading researchers, industry talks and poster sessions by the school attendees.

The school is open for all researchers from a PhD student level. You can find more details about the Winter School at the webpage https://sites.google.com/sheffield.ac.uk/quantumopticsnanophotonics2026/home

PASCOS 2026 Event

PASCOS 2026

Description

PASCOS 2026, 31st International Symposium on Particles, Strings, and Cosmology.

PASCOS 2026, the 31st International Symposium on Particles, Strings, and Cosmology, will be held in Sheffield from June 22 to 26, 2026. The conference aims to highlight recent advances in particle physics, astroparticle physics, string theory, and cosmology, with a strong focus on the interplay between these fields.

The conference includes invited plenary talks and parallel sessions. We warmly encourage participation from early-career researchers.

Topics will include: LHC physics, dark matter and dark energy, string theory, neutrino physics, precision measurements, non-accelerator probes of new physics, inflation, gravitational waves, cosmic tensions, and modified gravity.
