This programme combines animation with practical demonstration to explain the processes involved in borehole drilling in a detail not usually possible.
Detailed Description
This video demonstrates Shell and Augering, giving viewers a chance to see a U100 core sampler in action; a standard penetration test using a split spoon sampler; and the use of a bailer. Rotary Drilling is then demonstrated, starting with Open Hole Drilling where the method is explained showing a range of drill bits, followed by Rotary Coring where a double tube swivel core barrel is assembled and explained. Analysis of the core illustrates total core recovery, rock quality designation and lithographic detail. Finally, Continuous Flight Augering and Hollow Stem Augering are shown and compared with the previous techniques.
