Target Trial emulation: where are we and where are we going?Info Location Attendee Categories More Info Event Information![]()
DescriptionThe event is aimed at researchers, including statisticians, econometricians, epidemiologists and data scientists, as well as at clinicians and decision-makers interested in real-world evidence, causal inference, and trial emulation. The event will focus on Target Trial emulation research at the University Sheffield, work-in-progress from other institutions, alongside debate and discussion to do with hot topics such as the development of analysis plans for target trials and use of causal machine learning. Lunch and refreshments are included. PhD students and PPI participants: please contact us for a reduced rate.

Additional ItemsMore InformationIntroduction / Background: Large scale observational data are increasingly available for healthcare research, including from electronic health records and disease registries. Target trial emulation provides a framework for addressing causal questions using observational data, and the framework is increasingly used across a range of clinical areas to answer questions that would not be feasible in a randomized trial or to enhance evidence from randomized trials. This workshop will focus on early-stage targets trial study design and methodological issues through applications. This event will bring together experts on Trial Trials, causal inference and on the use of real-world evidence, to inform clinical decision. It will include an overview of the Target Trials and the Target Trials in Mental Health Program, as well as other ongoing target trial applications and methodological advancements motivated by issues in Target Trial.
