The University of Sheffield is dedicated to forging partnerships with organisations & individuals within the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. The Universities’ Partnerships & Regional Engagement Department has created the ‘Made Together’ programme – https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/city-region - a major University of Sheffield regeneration initiative with a dedicated team of staff and a clear brief to do four things: make our region healthier, greener, more vibrant and innovative for all.
For the next WithUS Networking event – on Thursday June 30th in the Heartspace Building Boardroom from 8am – we have invited three of the key figures in the programme to outline the crucial work they are doing to ensure that strong & sustainable partnerships are made & maintained between The University of Sheffield & the South Yorkshire business community.
Greg Oldfield is Head of Public Engagement & Research. Greg leads a team of professionals supporting academics across the university to deliver our Research Excellence (REF) - https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/research/ref-2021 - and Knowledge Exchange (KE) engagement ambitions to bring our research to the public through festivals, events and co-created partnerships. The team has delivered the University’s Festival of the Mind, Pop Up University and national festivals locally, such as Being Human, Pint of Science and ESRC Festival of Social Science.
Sara Unwin is Head of Cultural Engagement at the University. Cultural Vibrancy is one of the four main themes in Made Together and we work with creative and cultural partners to co-create projects and activities which add to the region's vibrancy, from festivals and exhibitions to green space and regeneration initiatives. Sara will discuss the University’s own Off the Shelf Festival of Words & about some of the partnerships across South Yorkshire, including the Sheffield Culture Consortium.
Laura Talbot is Regional Partnerships Development Officer and supports businesses across South Yorkshire to work collaboratively with the University to innovate and grow. Laura supports the ‘Innovation for Productivity’ strand of the Made Together Programme, and leads on the Managing Directors Club, - https://mdclub.org.uk - Sheffield Innovation Programme and supports Knowledge Transfer Partnerships. Laura works closely with the Careers Service and also supports the cross cutting theme, ‘Investing in Talent’.' At our event Laura will be discussing how Partnerships & Regional Engagement have supported regional businesses to innovate and grow with some case studies from the Sheffield Innovation Programme and the MD Club.
The networking event will be an engaging & proactive session with lots of information on how networking guests can actively collaborate & partner with The University of Sheffield.
As always, a nourishing breakfast & refreshments will be available along with great conversations, the opportunity to network with new & existing contacts and our commitment to deliver effective networking & business events that help your business to grow & thrive.
