The School of Clinical Dentistry of the University of Sheffield is one of the constituent schools of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health.

Teaching excellence

Our programmes are at the forefront of development in dental education. In 2008 we have introduced a new integrated curriculum for undergraduate dentistry and we have pioneered outreach teaching in primary care settings. We were rated as `excellent´ in the Teaching Quality Assessment, achieving 23 out of 24 points. In a recent external evaluation of our teaching we were described as an `excellent school of international calibre´.

The School of Clinical Dentistry is directly connected to the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital and adjacent to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital where patient treatment is carried out. The Charles Clifford Dental and Northern General Hospitals Sheffield were the first centres in the UK to use modern dental implants and have clinical and technical expertise that dates back to 1984 currently, we treat over 200 new patients per year. Staff from both Restorative and Surgical disciplines are involved with course delivery.

Our teaching is informed by the research activities of the staff and the School has received top ratings in recent teaching and research assessments and is consistently highly rated for student satisfaction.
