Experience in Speech and language therapy clinics for children and adults with communication impairments in the Philippa Cottam Communication Clinic.
This is an exciting opportunity to engage in innovative speech and language therapy clinics for Sheffield children and adults with communication impairments, in the Department of Human Communication Sciences (HCS). This rewarding opportunity is open to Post Graduate Taught Students (PGT) in HCS. Students will engage in the clinics, interacting with people (and their family/carers) who have various cognitive and communication difficulties through conditions such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease, aphasia, and children with developmental communication difficulties.
Students will be able to participate through observation and/or engaging in therapeutic interactions to facilitate people’s communication competence as well as developing their own confidence and skills in interpersonal relationships, team working and leadership. PGT students will work alongside our BMedSci, MMedSci and BSc students in the department of HCS. The clinics are led by, and all students are supervised by qualified speech and language therapists registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
